More product information:

Platónic Cumulus is a work by Peri Helio based on the set of Platonic solids. Platonic, regular or perfect solids are convex polyhedra such that all their faces are regular polygons equal to each other, and all the angles of the solids are equal.

The study of Platonic solids dates back to ancient Greece, to the Pythagorean school. After being mentioned in Plato‘s work “The Timaeus”, they came to be called Platonic solids. It is in this work where the transcendental character of these polyhedra is highlighted, associating each of them with an element. Thus, the tetrahedron symbolises fire, the cube symbolises earth, the octahedron symbolises air, the icosahedron water and the dodecahedron the “fifth element”, ether.

In Platónic Cumulus, the Platonic solids and the sphere, which are completely opposed from a geometrical point of view, are set against each other. It is, therefore, a work with an important mathematical background. It also speaks metaphorically of the confrontation between the feeling of belonging to the group and the importance of the individual.

Thus we can see Anubis, the guardian here of the essence of the individual, seated on the sphere while observing the group of Platonic solids, from which he maintains a careful distance. An appeal, therefore, not to abandon our essence when integrating ourselves into a collectivity.

This limited edition of giclée prints of Peri Helio’s work, Platonic Cumulus, is made on a 300grs 100% cotton Epson paper. It is printed using mineral inks, and all prints are numbered and signed by the artist.
