Cover of the second album of Cró! – Onkalo

About the collaboration:

Cró! is an instrumental rock band from Vigo (Galicia) formed in 2007. It is made up of Cibrán Rey (drums and backing vocals), David Santos (bass and backing vocals), Rubén Abad (guitar and vocals) and Xabier Núñez (keyboards and vocals) and is, along with Unicornibot, Buogh! and Why Go, one of the bands that founded the Metamovida collective in 2009.

For their second studio album, Onkalo, the band decided to commission Peri Helio to design both the exterior and the interior of the album. Inspired by the radioactive waste bunker that gives its name to the album and closely related to the metaphorical vocabulary of Peri’s work of those years, the result is this powerful image full of symbolism, which unites front and back covers, in which a red mask contrasts with a black and white landscape. An allegory through which Peri tried to reflect not only the music of Cró! but everything that the title of this album encompasses.

Inside, a succession of valleys are covered with red, black and white masks as if it were a dump of intentions. An aesthetic solution with multiple readings, which associated with the exterior of the album transports us to a devastated future.

With this work, Peri Helio has tried to transmit the power of the music of this band from Vigo, which is undoubtedly one of the Galician bands with the best live performances at present.
